Royal Vienna Hotel
Standing on the site of a former pilgrim hostel from the early 16th century, the Royal Vienna hotel is housed in a dignified, 9-storey building with an unremarkable pale stone façade. The medium sized lobby is traditionally appointed with leather sofas and brightly coloured rugs. Its most impressive feature is the piano where Wagner composed Die Meistersinger von Nürnberg. Also medium sized for the most part, the 81 guestrooms feature period furniture and are decorated in "Art Nouveau" and "Biedermeier" styles. All are clean and well maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms, which have mosaic tiles, dual basins and heated towel rails. Located on the ground floor, the hotel's Italian restaurant, Firenze Enoteca, is favoured by residents and locals alike. In summer it also operates Settimo Cielo (Seventh Heaven), which offers rooftop dining beneath a glass-roof, accompanied by spectacular views of the Graben and St. Stephen's. |
