The Intercontinental Hotel is housed in a large modern block with a somewhat bland white exterior, but this belies the inviting and elegant interior. The lobby is beautifully decorated, with a dark wooden reception desk, a blue and gold carpet and some of the best hotel chandeliers in Vienna. The 453 guestrooms – all good sized – are richly decorated in a traditional style, without necessarily evoking the atmosphere of old Vienna. All are clean and well maintained, as are the en suite bathrooms with tub/shower combinations. The hotel’s Mediterraneo Restaurant serves regional and international cuisine in a tranquil setting. Guests can also enjoy coffee in the Cafe Vienna and cocktails in the Intermezzo Bar, accompanied by live music. |
