De France Vienna hotel
Built in 1872 as part of the development of the Ringstrasse area, the De France Hotel is housed in an ornate, classical Viennese building with a grey stone-cut facade. The entrance has an unusual fan-shaped glass structure above it, adding to the property’s handsome appearance. The grand atrium-style lobby features a broad wooden bar and a grand piano. Elsewhere there are high-ceilinged public rooms, oriental carpets and generously padded armchairs, all of which combine to create the subdued and appealing ambience that attracts businesspeople from all over the world. The 208 guestrooms blend modern and traditional styles of décor. While some rooms have light furniture and some have dark, all boast firm beds, double-glazed windows and high ceilings with crystal chandeliers. They are clean and decently maintained, as are the roomy bathrooms with tub/shower combinations. The hotel offers a variety of dining options. The Bel Etage Restaurant serves traditional Austrian and French cuisine, while the Sushi Bar Diahachi offers teppanyaki dishes prepared in front of guests. There’s also a bistro bar – with a summer terrace – for light snacks, healthy salads and traditional Viennese Pastries. |
