Thermal Helia Hotel
The Danubius Health Spa Resort Helia is a modern, 8-storey wellness and conference hotel, designed in the Scandinavian style. It was built in 1990 and renovated 2003-5. Natural thermal water is pumped to the hotel spa from nearby Margaret Island, which is famous in Budapest for its springs. The spacious lobby has marble fittings, with a bar area to one side and lifts in the centre. The 262 medium sized guestrooms also display a Scandinavian influence, with light toned décor and IKEA-style furniture. All are kept in good condition, as are the en suite tiled bathrooms. The Jupiter Restaurant, located on the ground floor, serves international cuisine - both buffet and à la carte - with live music at dinner. There’s also a coffee shop, open all day, offering famous Hungarian pastries, salads, snacks and hot meals. While the majority of guests do not come to this hotel for the official spa treatment, there are a number of spa-related facilities that all visitors can use free of charge: thermal baths, a swimming pool, a sauna, a Jacuzzi, steam baths and a fitness room. |
