Grand Margitsziget Hotel
Built over a century ago and reconstructed after World War Two, the Grand Margitsziget Hotel is situated on picturesque Margaret Island. It is housed in an impressive historic building. It also is connected by a heated underground corridor to the neighbouring Spa Resort Margitsziget Hotel, which boasts one of Europe's top Health Spas, utilising three of the island's natural thermal springs. The hotel lobby is large and quite grand, with lots of dark wood fittings and an imposing lounge area where drinks and snacks are served. There are also a couple of gift shops selling hand crafted Hungarian goods. Traditional prints line the corridors. Retaining original light fittings and other features, the 154 spacious guestrooms are impressively appointed with antiques, classical paintings and elegant décor, lending them a timeless atmosphere. The bathrooms are medium sized and adequate. All the hotel’s restaurants are on the ground floor. The Széchenyi Restaurant, with a garden terrace leading out into the park, offers both regional and international dishes, as well as kosher meals on request and live gypsy music. Alternatively, the Gösser Brasserie, Begonia Café and Victoria Drink Bar serve a wide range of drinks and snacks. |
