| Getting Around Bratislava |
| Bratislava’s M.R. Štefánik International Airport
is 7 kilometres north east of the city centre. Bus number 61 runs
to and from the Hlavná eleznicná train station
and takes about 20 minutes. There is also a taxi rank at the front
of the terminal building.
The city’s extensive public transport system is based on a
tram network complemented by bus and trolleybus. Tourist tickets
valid for 1, 2, 3 or 7 days allow you to transfer between them and
offer good value. Orange automats at the main train and bus stops
sell tickets. Validate the ticket in the little red machine on the
bus or tram when you board. You can also buy tickets at DPB offices
at the train and bus stations. Trams and buses run from 05.00 to
23.30. Night service buses run through the small hours; schedules
are posted at main stops.
Be aware that people are extremely polite on public transport in
Bratislava – expect to give up your seat for the elderly or
parents with children.
